Privacy Policy
LedgerNest · Last updated: 3 November 2026 · Effective: 3 November 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Niyaan Technologies (“Niyaan Technologies”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the developer of LedgerNest, collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when you use the LedgerNest desktop application for Windows, the LedgerNest Online web application at app.ledgernest.co.in, the LedgerNest phone companion, and the website ledgernest.co.in (together, the “Services”).
This Policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, to the extent applicable. By creating an account or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
1. Definitions
- “Personal Data” means any data about an individual who is identifiable by or in relation to that data.
- “Account Data” means the information you give us to create and manage your LedgerNest account.
- “Business Data” means the accounting and business records you enter into or import into LedgerNest, such as company details, ledgers, vouchers, invoices, bills, stock, bank statements, employee records, GST and TDS details, and settings.
- “You” or “User” means the person or entity that creates an account or uses the Services.
2. Our role
- For Account Data, billing records and information about how the Services are used, Niyaan Technologies decides why and how the data is processed and acts as the Data Fiduciary.
- For Business Data, you decide what is entered and why. We process Business Data only on your behalf and on your instructions, to provide the Services to you. Where Business Data contains Personal Data of your customers, suppliers, employees or other third parties, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to record and process it, and for giving any notices those persons are entitled to.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Account Data: your name, email address and password. Your password is never stored in readable form; only a one-way, salted cryptographic hash of it is stored.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose “Continue with Google”, we receive your name, email address, a Google account identifier and whether Google has verified your email address. We do not receive your Google password.
- Business Data: everything you enter into, or import into, LedgerNest.
- Payment information: the plan you choose, the amount, the date and the UPI transaction reference number (UTR) that you submit after paying. Payments are made directly from your UPI app to our UPI account. We do not collect or store your card number, bank account number, UPI PIN or net-banking credentials.
- CA Partner Programme: if you apply as a partner, your name, firm name, ICAI membership number, firm registration number (FRN), certificate of practice details, mobile number and city, so that we can verify your status and pay commission.
- Support communications: the contents of emails, WhatsApp messages or calls you send to us, and any files you choose to share with us for support.
3.2 Information collected automatically (LedgerNest Online)
- Session and device information: the date and time of sign-in, and a short device description derived from your browser (for example, “Chrome on Windows”). This is used to keep your account signed in on one device at a time and to show you where it was last opened.
- Security information: failed sign-in attempts and related technical information, used to block password-guessing attempts.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider may process IP addresses and standard request logs for the purpose of delivering, securing and protecting the Services against abuse.
3.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not use advertising cookies, advertising identifiers or third-party advertising trackers.
- The website ledgernest.co.in does not use analytics or tracking cookies.
- The desktop application does not send your Business Data to our servers. It contacts the internet only for features you turn on, such as Google Drive backup.
4. How we use information
We use information only for the following purposes:
- to create and maintain your account, sign you in, and keep your books available on the devices you use;
- to store, save, back up and restore your Business Data, and to let you download or export it;
- to manage free trials, the Student edition and paid plans, verify UPI payments, and enforce plan limits;
- to run the CA Partner Programme, including verification of partners, tracking of referred clients and payment of commission;
- to keep the Services secure, including one-device sign-in, blocking repeated wrong passwords, detecting misuse and protecting the software from unauthorised copying;
- to respond to support requests and send you service messages, such as payment confirmations, plan expiry notices and important changes to the Services;
- to comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting requirements, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell your information. We do not use your Business Data for advertising, profiling or marketing, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. Our staff access your Business Data only when you ask us for support and allow it, or when required by law.
5. Legal basis
We process Personal Data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account, connect Google Drive or submit a payment or partner application, and for legitimate uses permitted by law, including providing a service you have asked for, complying with law, and protecting the security of the Services. You may withdraw your consent at any time as described in Section 11. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, but we may no longer be able to provide some or all of the Services to you.
6. Google user data
LedgerNest offers two optional features that use Google: Sign in with Google and Google Drive backup.
6.1 Scopes requested. When you connect Google Drive, LedgerNest requests only:
- Google Drive – files created by this app (
drive.file): to create a folder named “LedgerNest Backups” in your Google Drive and to upload, list, download and delete only the backup files that LedgerNest itself created. LedgerNest cannot see, open or change any other file in your Google Drive.
- Basic profile and email address (
openid, email, profile): to identify your account when you use Sign in with Google, and to show which Google account is connected for backup.
6.2 How backup works. Desktop app: backup files go directly from your computer to your Google Drive, and the Google access key is stored only on your computer, encrypted using the operating system’s built-in protection. LedgerNest Online: our server uploads a daily copy of your books to your own Google Drive, including on days you do not sign in. The Google access key is stored on our server in encrypted form and is used only for this purpose.
6.3 Limited use. Google user data is used only to provide the sign-in, backup and restore features that are visible to you in LedgerNest. It is not sold, not transferred to any third party except as necessary to provide those features or as required by law, not used for advertising, and not used to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. No person at Niyaan Technologies reads your Google data, except with your explicit permission for support, or where required for security purposes or by law.
LedgerNest’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6.4 Revoking access. You can click Disconnect in LedgerNest (Settings › Backup & data) at any time, or remove LedgerNest’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Backup files already in your Google Drive remain there until you delete them.
7. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts LedgerNest Online, its database and the website, and Google LLC, for Sign in with Google and Drive backup when you choose to use them. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and data-protection commitments.
- CA partners: if you joined using a CA partner’s referral link or code, that partner can see your name, email address, sign-up date and plan status, so that commission can be calculated. Partners cannot see your Business Data through the Programme.
- Legal requirements: where disclosure is required by law, by an order of a court or tribunal, or by a lawful request of a government authority, or where needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or Niyaan Technologies.
- Business transfer: if Niyaan Technologies or the LedgerNest business is merged, acquired or transferred, information may be transferred to the successor, which will be bound by this Policy or by a policy giving you at least the same level of protection.
- With your consent: in any other case, only with your consent.
8. Where data is stored
LedgerNest Online data is stored with Cloudflare, which operates a global network of data centres. As a result, your data may be stored or processed in India or in other countries. Any such transfer is made in accordance with applicable Indian law, including any restrictions notified by the Government of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Desktop-app data is stored on your own computer and in the backup locations you choose.
9. Security
We use reasonable security practices and procedures appropriate to the nature of the data, including:
- encrypted HTTPS connections for all traffic to the website and to LedgerNest Online;
- salted one-way hashing of passwords, and encryption of stored Google access keys;
- session keys that are stored only in hashed form, sign-in on one device at a time, and temporary blocking after repeated wrong passwords;
- access to the program and to company data only for signed-in accounts, and separation of each account’s data;
- restricted administrative access, limited to persons who need it to operate the Services.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password, your devices and your Google account secure, and for keeping your own backups. If we become aware of a personal data breach that affects you, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Retention
- Account Data and Business Data are kept for as long as your account is active, including during the free trial, the Student edition and any period after a paid plan ends, so that you can renew and continue without losing your books.
- If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your Account Data and Business Data from our active systems within 30 days. Copies may remain in our hosting provider’s encrypted short-term recovery backups for a limited period, after which they are overwritten automatically.
- Payment and commission records are kept for the period required under applicable tax and accounting laws.
- Backup files in your Google Drive and files on your own computer are under your control and are not deleted by us.
Before asking for deletion, please download your company file from LedgerNest, as deleted data cannot be recovered.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access a summary of the Personal Data we process about you and the processing activities;
- correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;
- erase your Personal Data and close your account;
- withdraw consent for processing that is based on consent;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity;
- seek redressal of grievances through our Grievance Officer and, thereafter, before the Data Protection Board of India.
Most of these can be done directly in LedgerNest (for example, editing your profile, exporting your books or disconnecting Google Drive). For anything else, email support@ledgernest.co.in from your registered email address. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
12. Cookies and local storage
LedgerNest Online uses your browser’s local storage only for essential functions: keeping you signed in, remembering unsaved changes while you are offline, and remembering screen preferences. These are necessary for the Services to work and are not used for tracking or advertising. Clearing your browser data will sign you out.
13. Children
The Services are intended for businesses, professionals and students of accounting who are capable of entering into a binding contract. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data of children (persons under 18 years of age) without verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian. If you believe a child has provided us Personal Data without such consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Third-party links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites and services, such as Google, WhatsApp or UPI apps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. If the changes are material, we will also notify you inside LedgerNest or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
16. Grievance Officer and contact
For any questions, requests or complaints about this Policy or your data, please contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days of receipt.

Terms of Service
LedgerNest · Last updated: 3 November 2026 · Effective: 3 November 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Niyaan Technologies (“Niyaan Technologies”, “we”, “us” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the LedgerNest desktop application, the LedgerNest Online web application at app.ledgernest.co.in, the LedgerNest phone companion, the website ledgernest.co.in, and all related updates, documentation and support (together, the “Services”).
By downloading, installing, creating an account on or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Services on behalf of a business, firm or other entity, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf, and “you” includes that entity. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and do not require a physical or digital signature.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and competent to contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to use the Services. A person under 18 may use the Services only under the supervision, and with the consent, of a parent or lawful guardian who accepts these Terms on their behalf.
2. Your account
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account, and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and your Google account secure, and for all activity under your account. Please inform us immediately at support@ledgernest.co.in if you suspect any unauthorised use.
- Each account may be signed in on one device at a time. Signing in on a new device automatically signs out the previous one. An account is for use by the person or business that registered it and must not be shared, resold or used to provide accounting services to others in a way that bypasses the applicable plan.
- Each LedgerNest Online account includes one company, unless your plan states otherwise.
3. Licence
Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to install and use LedgerNest, and to access LedgerNest Online, for your own internal business, professional or educational purposes, during the term of your plan.
LedgerNest is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Niyaan Technologies.
4. Restrictions
You agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
- copy, reproduce, modify, translate or create derivative works of the Services or any part of them;
- decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, de-obfuscate or otherwise attempt to obtain the source code of the Services, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law;
- sell, rent, lease, sublicense, distribute, publish or otherwise make the Services available to any third party;
- remove, alter or hide any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice, including the credit “Developed by Niyaan Technologies”;
- bypass, disable or interfere with any security, licensing, sign-in, one-device, plan or payment control;
- use automated tools to access, copy or extract data from the Services, or place an unreasonable load on them;
- upload or enter any content that is unlawful, fraudulent, infringing or contains viruses or malicious code;
- use the Services to record fictitious transactions, create false invoices or records, evade tax, or for any other unlawful purpose.
Any breach of this Section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, in addition to any other remedy available to us under law.
5. Free trial, Student edition and paid plans
- Free trial. New LedgerNest Online accounts receive a free trial with all features, for the number of days shown on our website at the time of sign-up (currently 30 days, or 45 days when you join using a CA partner’s referral link or code).
- Student edition. When the free trial ends without a paid plan, or if you choose the Student edition, your account continues free of charge as the Student edition. In the Student edition, all screens and reports remain available, but new entries can be dated only on the 1st, 2nd or 31st of a month. The Student edition is intended for learning and practice and is not intended for maintaining the actual books of a running business.
- Paid plans. Paid plans are offered on a monthly or yearly basis at the prices shown on our website and inside LedgerNest at the time of payment.
- Plan period. A paid plan starts when your payment is verified and runs until the same date and time in the following month (for a monthly plan) or the following year (for a yearly plan). Where that date does not exist in the following month, the plan ends on the last day of that month. If you renew before your current plan ends, the new period is added to the end of the current period.
- No automatic renewal. Plans do not renew automatically. You must renew before the end date to continue uninterrupted use.
6. Payment
- Payments are made by UPI to the UPI ID or QR code shown inside LedgerNest. After paying, you must enter the UPI transaction reference number (UTR) in LedgerNest.
- On submission of a UTR, your account may be given provisional access for a short period while we verify the payment. If the payment cannot be verified, provisional access will end and the account will return to its previous status.
- You must pay only from a bank account or UPI ID that you are authorised to use. Submitting a false, duplicate or incorrect UTR is a breach of these Terms.
- Prices are in Indian Rupees. Applicable taxes, if any, will be charged as indicated at the time of payment.
- We may change prices for future periods. Any change will not affect a period you have already paid for.
- Refunds. Because a free trial is provided to evaluate the Services before payment, fees once paid are non-refundable, except (a) where a payment was made twice or in error and is reported to us within 7 days, or (b) where a refund is required by applicable law.
7. When a plan ends or is not renewed
If a paid plan is not renewed by its end date, LedgerNest will display a payment-due notice, and entering, changing and deleting entries will be paused until the plan is renewed. During this time your books will not be deleted, and you will continue to be able to open, view, print, export and download them. Full use resumes as soon as the renewal payment is verified.
8. CA Partner Programme
- Practising Chartered Accountants may apply to join the CA Partner Programme by providing the details requested. Admission is at our sole discretion and subject to verification of membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
- Approved partners receive a referral link and code, free use of LedgerNest Online as specified in the Programme, and a commission on verified payments made by clients who join through their referral, at the rate shown in the partner dashboard at the time of payment.
- Commission is payable only on payments actually received and verified, and is not payable on refunded, reversed or fraudulent payments. Commission is paid periodically to the partner, and partners are responsible for their own taxes on it.
- Partners must not make false or misleading statements about LedgerNest, must not use spam or misleading advertising, and must comply with the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. We may modify or end the Programme, or remove a partner for breach, with notice.
9. Your data
- Ownership. You retain all rights in the Business Data you enter into LedgerNest. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, back up and transmit that data only to provide the Services to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Responsibility. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness and legality of your Business Data, and for having the necessary rights and consents to record any personal information of your customers, suppliers, employees and other persons.
- Backups. We take reasonable measures to protect and back up LedgerNest Online data. However, you are responsible for keeping your own backups, for example by using Google Drive backup or by downloading your company file regularly.
- Export. You may export or download your company data at any time, including after your plan has ended.
10. Professional responsibility and statutory compliance
LedgerNest is a tool to help you maintain accounts and prepare working papers, reports, GST and TDS information and financial statements. It does not provide accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not file returns with any government portal on your behalf.
You remain solely responsible for your books of account, the correctness of figures, the selection of tax rates and treatments, the preparation and timely filing of returns, payment of taxes, and compliance with the Income-tax Act, GST laws, the Companies Act and any other applicable law. Please review all figures, and consult a qualified professional, before relying on them or filing any return. Tax laws, rates, formats and portal schemas change from time to time, and LedgerNest may not always reflect the latest change immediately.
11. Google Drive and third-party services
Some features rely on third-party services, such as Google Drive, Sign in with Google, UPI apps, WhatsApp and our hosting provider. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability, security or acts of any third-party service, and we may change or stop supporting any third-party integration.
12. Availability, updates and support
- We aim to keep LedgerNest Online available at all times, but it may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, internet or hosting failures, or events beyond our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
- We may release updates that fix problems, improve security, or add, change or remove features. Updates to LedgerNest Online apply automatically.
- Support is provided by email and WhatsApp during reasonable business hours on working days.
13. Intellectual property
The Services, including the software, source code, design, screens, text, graphics, logos, the name “LedgerNest” and all related intellectual property rights, are owned by Niyaan Technologies or its licensors and are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of these rights to you. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will meet every requirement of your business, that they will be free of errors, or that any calculation, report or return prepared using them will be complete or correct.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Niyaan Technologies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or any tax, interest, penalty or late fee, arising out of or in connection with the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such loss.
- Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms shall not exceed the total fees actually paid by you to us for the Services during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you have used only free services, our total liability shall not exceed ₹1,000.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Niyaan Technologies, its proprietor(s), employees and partners from any claim, demand, loss, liability, penalty or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Services, your Business Data, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
17. Suspension and termination
- You may stop using the Services at any time, and may ask us to close your account and delete your data by writing to support@ledgernest.co.in.
- We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, if your account is used fraudulently, or to protect the Services or other users. Where reasonably possible, we will give you an opportunity to download your data before closing your account.
- Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 4, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20, will survive termination of these Terms.
18. Force majeure
We shall not be liable for any delay or failure in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, fire, flood, war, riots, government action, power or internet outages, failure of hosting or third-party services, or cyber-attacks.
19. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The parties shall first attempt to resolve any dispute amicably through good-faith discussion, beginning with a written notice to the other party. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days of such notice, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at the place where Niyaan Technologies carries on its business, subject to any non-excludable rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
20. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan details shown at the time of payment, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
- Changes. We may amend these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date, and material changes will be notified inside LedgerNest or by email. Continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the amended Terms.
- Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right shall not be a waiver of that right.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of the LedgerNest business.
- Notices. We may send notices to the email address registered with your account or display them inside LedgerNest. You may send notices to us at support@ledgernest.co.in.
21. Grievance Officer and contact
For any questions or complaints about these Terms or the Services, please contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days of receipt.
